It’s ENOURRRRRMOUS!

(missus).

Some time ago I bought a “Mushroom Growing” kit from B&Q. I got bored after a few weeks of no mushrooms, stuck it in the shed and forgot about it.

I just went out to put something in the shed and look what I found! Look at the size of ‘em! They’re fungous-mungous!

Now, I need some mushroom based cooking suggestions/recipies. Feel free to paste below as a comment.

Mailing list clarification

A few days ago I posted a blog entry in which I ranted about the fact the HantsLUG mailing list is private. I also discussed this with one of the guys from Lonix. Tony – the Chairman of HantsLUG replied to the blog post and I can see that what I said misrepresents the LUG and I’d like to clarify that here.

Standing room only

So this morning I start the “early shift” at work which means I’m supposed to be at my desk at 07:30. This requires me to be at the train station before the 05:56 pulls in. I duly arrived in plenty of time only to discover my train was delayed, and the next one was cancelled. Over the next hour and a half I heard subsequent trains being called as “delayed due to engineering works”, “cancelled”, and “delayed due to signal failure”.

Frustratingly the electronic indicator boards would tell passengers that a train was delayed, thus raising hope that it would eventually arrive. Minutes later the same train would show as cancelled, thus dashing any hope.

A good night at Lonix

Further to my post last night I arrived at the pub for the Lonix meet up to find it pretty busy already. The sun was out and most pubs I passed seemed to already have plenty of custom by 6pm. I met up with Graham Bleach and had a few lovely beers, some good tech chat and the odd rant. The guys went off to a Thai restaurant, Graham and I left at that point. Overall a good early-night out. I suspect I’ll be going to another Lonix do.

Beer-o’clock and sadness..

In my minor quest to visit as many of the UK Linux User Groups as I can, tonight is beer with Lonix – London Linux User Group.

I’ve visited a few LUGs now, including one LUG in the USA, and it never ceases to amaze me how much LUGs differ.

It’s the characters that make up the LUG that heavily influence them of course. Some LUGs have people who are passionate about open source, others are ardent fans of the “bring a box” meet, where others are just big on curry and booze. I’m looking forward to seeing what Lonix will be like.
