Zattoo Player for Ubuntu

How come I didn’t know about Zattoo?!

It’s a program (Linux version available here), which lets you watch TV programmes online. Nice. Dead handy for people (like me) who have a good internet connection but no TV aerial at their computer.

They carry the basic channels I need.

BBC1 for example

Now I can watch Carrie and Davids Pop Shop anywhere!

Sweet!

My dream would be a mix between Zattoo and Miro, how about Zaro or Mittoo ?

Interesting. I get this when trying the d/l link:

“You seem to be accessing the Zattoo website from a country we do not yet serve. Please enter your country of residence below, and when our service is available there, we will contact you. “

Too bad it isn’t yet available in the States. We have Joost here… but it’s only for Windows or Mac. It seems to work best on Mac, but it sure sucks in Wine.

I really like this idea, and the fact that there is a Linux version is awesome. Cool stuff!

Unfortunately, it doesn’t work from Morocco, where I am. Bummer! I signed up for an email notification in case they ever offer the service here.

It won’t let me download because I’m not in th US. Is the app all you need or an account and things as well? I could probably get the client through a proxy if no account is needed…I’d like to be able to watch BBC.

This is similar to the licencing for BBC World (world service television). This is funded by the foreign office, and as such isn’t normally available inside the UK, despite being a UK channel.

I gave it a go, and it looks very interesting.
But one thing I just don’t get: from the UK, you can watch France 24, the french 24/7 news channel, both in French and English, but from France… You can’t.

    Stoopid.

It’s not available in Canada yet… Is this only a UK thing?

Ahhh … Living in Portugal; Not allowed to even download it. I could use TOR, but I’m not sure I would be able to watch it.

Can give it a try, though.

And it’s not available in the States yet. Damn. I couldn’t watch the really cool stations (BBC) anyway, but I wish I could enjoy the content.

Wow this is a great application for watching live TV on Ubuntu. Now if only there was an application so you could watch old TV shows….Oh wait that’s the iPlayer :-)
