Poking Purple Popups

Seriously, I can’t be the only person who does this?

Incoming flash blob (or HTML5 video if you have a decent browser)

Combining this with my compulsion to watch -n 0.1 cat /proc/mdstat, I clearly need help. Is there a support group for people like me?

Someone made a video of Windows 98 defragging. I don’t think you’re the only one with problems.

    Hi.

My name is Donny and I’ve been a notification poker for two years now.

As the NotifyOSD bubbles are supposed to be things you read quickly, without interrupting your workflow, one has to wonder if this is not a design flaw.

Launchpad Bug #958673456. Bubbles are too pretty! Uglify them!

Hmm. I don’t do that, but I do run sudo apt-get update all the time… I have a compulsion that I *need* to have the latest updates straight away.

Just in case there’s an update in there from the Xorg-edgers PPA that fixes my suspend/resume. Just in case…

As much as I would hate to admit it, I do that also.

Looks purty. Shame there isn’t a way to make them go away other than waiting (or have I missed something?)

I’m constantly trying to click them. Oh, someone sent me an IM? I should click that to reply. New e-mail? I should click that to read it. But NOOOOOO, someone thought people would want their desktop to be a read-only environment instead of an interactive one.

I was hoping 10.04 reverted to the same place 9.04 had their notifications. You know where they’re all on top and there’s not that space right above it. In any case, yes I’ll do that too occasionally.

There are notifications that appear above the one I showed. The volume and brightness notifications appear in that gap.

Just be thankful they don’t fade and explode apart, recombining when you roll back off.

    I do it too.

Am only admitting it publically cos popey said there would most likely be some google juice in it for me.

I also sit there and netstat -tn and get paranoid at all the connections

I used to do the same with powertop and htop too

    Hehehe
