Ok... what the heck. I don't normally do these things cos I don't know where I could contribute... if at all. But I figure if I could rack up about 0.1K posts in three weeks on the forum, I might as well try at least some "editing" and then see if there's somewhere I could contribute as well.

I've thought about contributing, but as a new user (started on 12.04 Beta1, prior to this only gave 10.04 a brief run but didn't get into details) I don't think I'd have the knowledge to put together articles for more than the more basic things, which I imagine is already covered.

Couple of years ago I made several small manuals.

Then after some time all my manuals were obsolete because the software developement went so fast so all my efforts were lost.

Then I lost motivation.

I suggest to make the program interfaces to stay the same and to make all the changes behind the scenes so manuals will last for a long time.

Maybe this will grow some new ideas.

Another idea is to make 2 menus on programs with have lots of options:

One FULL menu with all options

One QUICK menu with all the options which are most used so newbies can get along using programs.

One obvious but oft overlooked possibility that had me confused for an age is the number of concurrent connections permitted by the site you are trying to mirror from.

I had to reduce the number of threads in mirror.list to 5 (the max allowed by my source site) before I was successful
