Yes, I did switched 2 months ago while I knew my XP computer was slowly dying. I first installed Ubuntu on a second drive and started what I called my “proof of concept – Can I live my everyday life with only Ubuntuâ€. After two weeks where I had (this is my only critic) to install additional media codecs, I was already convinced Ubuntu was going to become my primary OS.
So, when my computer finally died for real and while XP didn't want to boot anymore because I changed my motherboard, my Ubuntu came back without a bump recognizing on the fly all the new peripherals. I won't even try to get back XP!
